HENDERSON, NC -- Wendell Snowden,
former drag racer, nationally
recognized authority on the
restoration of 55-57 Chevrolets, and
member of the East Coast Drag Times
Hall of Fame was featured on NBC
TV’s Nightly News with Brian
Williams Monday, June 01, 2009.
Snowden’s appearance came after an
NBC crew came from New York to
record video footage at Snowden’s
North Florida restoration shop at
Wellborn, Florida. The story line
revolved around Monday’s breaking
news on the bankruptcy filing by
General Motors, and explained how
Snowden’s involvement with Tri-Five,
classic Chevys began nearly 60 years
ago. Wendell explained that he was
disappointed in GM for its failure,
and that he hoped the “new” GM would
take a look at its past for the
things that made GM’s Chevrolet
products the largest sellers in the
U.S.
“We’ve long known that Wendell
Snowden is one of the nation’s
foremost authorities on the 55-56-57
Chevy, and it’s extremely exciting
that he received this amazing
recognition. It’s even better that
Wendell is a member of our East
Coast Drag Times Hall of Fame,
having been inducted in 2007”, noted
Hall of Fame Executive Director,
Nancy Wilson.
